Raise is hiring a Procurement Professional for Our Client, one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada. This position is a one (1)-year contract located in Burnaby, BC. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward.

 

Description

The Procurement Professional is accountable for delivering assigned outcomes related to the development and execution of category/project supply chain strategies, sourcing strategies and/or sourcing activities following established processes and quality requirements.

 

Role Accountabilities:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and advice to client groups within the line of business in sourcing, procuring, and managing a wide range of goods and services, particularly those with high value, high complexity, and/or high financial or political risk impacts.
  • Lead cross-functional evaluation teams through the sourcing, vendor negotiation, and contract transitioning stages.
  • Monitor processes with end-users to ensure services and materials are purchased effectively and in accordance with policies and directives.
  • Develop relationships with key contacts at all levels within the organization and external.
  • Accountable for determining appropriate sourcing methods, including the preparation and evaluation of contracting documents such as project procurement strategies, contracting plan, RFP's, RFEI's, RFSQ's, and RFQ’s.
  • Accountable for maintaining integrity procurement practices.
  • May be required to manage the subsequent contracts.
  • May provide work direction to a team of procurement analysts and administrative support staff.
  • As a member of the Business Group’s professional sourcing, procurement and contract management team, participates in the identification and development of business process improvements to enhance operational efficiency within the Business Group's procurement and sourcing function.
  • Develop and plan the implementation of category and/or sourcing strategies or related work packages by using excellent skills in communication, analysis, critical thinking, planning/project management, supplier/market research, problem-solving, and facilitation of decision-making in a large and complex organization.
  • Implement category and/or sourcing strategies or related work packages using a thorough understanding of sourcing and category management processes and standards, good project management practices, knowledge of public sector procurement law, and the appropriate application of relevant supply chain concepts.
  • Lead and/or support projects that may include developing and conducting multi-stage RFPs, preparing for and conducting negotiations, both initial award and for extensions, as well as implementing supplier relationship management initiatives including analyzing and resolving escalated contract or supplier issues.
  • Establish and maintain positive and productive relationships between supply chain organization and business partners, suppliers, and stakeholders through activities such as timely communication, resolution of issues, and relevant reporting.
  • Act as a subject matter expert by advising on category management and/or sourcing best practices, approaches, and standards to enhance current operational efficiency and future capability.

 Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of sourcing, category management or equivalent, preferably in a complex environment and enterprise level company
  • 8+ years progressive Supply Chain Management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field such as Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business, Supply Chain or in an equivalent field, and a combination of one of the following:
    • Completion of a professional designation such as SCMP, ISM, PMP or CPA
    • Enrollment in advanced degree program such as MBA or equivalent
    • Completion of a business-related continuing development program
  • Solid understanding of contract development, competitive bid law and contract law.
  • Able to lead and moderate to complex contracting and, negotiations work with large vendors
  • Ability to successfully manage large procurement projects, including those of a complex nature
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, negotiating, project management, planning and organizational skills

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with government/public procurement, IT Procurement and, the various Canadian free trade agreements
  • Experience in categories or infrastructure capital project within a crown corporations or government environments
