Project Managers – Focused on Transportation Planning and Design, Storm Water, and Municipality/Community Projects

A sector in the municipal government is interested in hiring a project manager who specializes in transportation. Full time permanent and contract positions. We are hiring for both!

You will be responsible for coordination and the lead of delivering transportation planning and design services in a manner that achieves a safe and efficient road system, balancing mobility requirements with the needs of the community.


Oversee the detailed design of road, bridge and storm drainage projects. Provide safe, efficient, and environmentally respectful road system improvements: 

  • Plan, organizing and direct technical staff 
  • Coordinating and monitoring activities of consulting engineers 
  • Review design drawings and specifications ensuring consistency and adhering to required standards and practices
  • Approve and stamp engineering drawings and specifications

Day to day, you will be managing all road, bridge and storm draining design projects from inception to completion. You will meet timing requirements and needs of stakeholders, while recognizing the limited construction season and timelines. While leading and promoting good working relationships with other staff, external agencies, contractors and consultants. 

  • Developing comprehensive strategic planning and design process, engineering strategies and work programs
  • Creating short and long term goals and objectives
  • Producing timely and completed engineering packages for contract document preparation as well as construction
  • Reports and recommendations to Works Committee and Council
  • Involvement in the preparation of project budgets for the Capital Budget and Four-Year Forecast
  • Controlling of project expenditures within project budget
  • Cost estimates and financing strategies, develop cost sharing formulas
  • Prepare reports to Works Committee and Council
  • Public communication – Conducting information sessions to publicize, inform, and respond to inquiries from public and stakeholder meetings
  • Continuous Learning – Researching and reviewing practices of other regions. Attending seminars and evaluating available technical data for various construction techniques, products and materials
  • Health and Safety  – Conducting incident reports and investigations. Train and  give feedback to employees by observing safety on site
  • Have a deep knowledge of responsibilities as outlined in the OHSA


  • University degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed with Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • Specialization experience in highway and road design engineering and project management
  • Experience in storm drainage and storm water control engineering and project management 
  • Public Works Administration is ideal
