Manufacturing Engineer

On behalf of our client we are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their growing team! 


Responsibilities Include:

Ensure that complete packages of information, work instructions, CNC programs and tooling are supplied to Production so that can successfully manufacture components and assemblies that meet the exacting requirements of the nuclear industry. Your duties are to:

Review and understand customer-supplied nuclear component design specifications, drawings, solid models and technical requirements;

Develop detailed work instructions including CAD drawings, Inspection Test Procedures (ITPs), and Material Control Sheets to lead the process to manufacture and assemble these complex precision-machined components;

Interface with Applications Specialists and Quality Control Engineers to ensure that all manufacturing processes are proven prior to the start of production;

Work with Quality Control to diagnose problems, recommend solutions, identify risk and implement appropriate mitigation plans to maximize shop efficiency and reduce non-conformances;

Design component jigs, fixtures and test rigs;

Provide technical support and advice to other departments including interpretations of standards and codes of practice, dispositioning non-conforming material and components, and preparation of purchase orders to sub-suppliers;

Skills required:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with high standing from a recognized university;

5+  years’ experience in either nuclear, aerospace or defence industries;

Knowledge of ASME Code, ISO 9001, CSA N285.0 and Z299 quality programs;

Experience manufacturing precision-machined components and related processes including heat treatment, plating, assembly and testing activities;

Expertise in reading and interpreting engineering component drawings including a very strong understanding of metrology and GD&T;

Experience with EdgeCam or MasterCam Programming for axis machines

Excellent organizational and time management skills with a focus on continuous improvement;

Strong communication and problem solving skills to work within a team-based environment.
